Alzheimer patient struck by car after wandering out of California Nursing Home
An 89 year-old patient at the "Alzheimer's & Dementia Care Facility" in Castro Valley was killed after wandering out of the home and getting struck by a vehicle. The patient suffered from Alzheimer's and was likely placed in the home because of their specialized care. If it is shown that the care facility failed to provide the proper supervision over the patient then it will likely be charged with neglect or California nursing home abuse.
All care facilities have a duty to provide their patients with a standard of care common to all other nursing homes. Failure to do this can result in a negligence lawsuit. Even worse, if the acts can be shown to be willful or intentional, the charges could be even more severe. If you suspect that you or someone you love has been the victim of nursing home abuse or neglect then the first thing that you should do is contact a qualified California nursing home abuse attorney.
