Ventura Nursing Home Abuse continues to spread

Over the last year, the Ventura County ombudsman filed nearly 200 claims against 9 nursing homes. Despite increase in funding from sources such as Medi-Cal, Ventura nursing homes are being reported on more often than ever. From alleged chemical restraints to physical abuse, the realities are shocking. Shoreline Care Center in Oxnard faces a complaint where the same bedpan was used by multiple patients. It should be noted that Shoreline's profits were over $4 million, despite increases in medi-cal funding and profits Shoreline's operator Covenant Care continues to cut staff. Tragically, California Nursing home abuse is rampant. Increases in funding from state and federal sources seems to have done little besides increase the profit line for the nursing homes. While there are some success stories where funding has helped to increase staffing and better care, even one substantiated story of elder abuse or neglect is too many. If you or a loved one has experienced Ventura nursing home abuse the first call you should make is to a knowledgeable California elder abuse attorney who can assist you in getting the compensation you deserve.
