Costa Mesa Nursing Home Fined For Death of Elderly Man

An Orange County nursing home has been penalized and fined with $75,000 in violations for elder abuse for a patient's death last year.

The Victoria Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Costa Mesa, has received the most severe penalty under state law after one of its residents died in September. According to the OC Register, a 92-year-old man was admitted to the Victoria Healthcare Center after he had hip surgery. The elderly man was recovering when an undetected ulcer ruptured in his small intestine which then caused his bloodstream to become infected. Family members and an occupational therapist all told officers that the elderly man was lethargic and in pain, but no one contacted the doctor.

If you suspect that someone you know is a victim of elder abuse, do not wait to contact authorities; the elderly person's health and life could be in danger. Contact our Orange County Elder Abuse Attorneys today for more information.
