Fountain Valley Man Convicted in Death of Mother

A 49 year old man has been convicted of attempted murder for the elder abuse he caused his 74 year old mother.

Robert Lawrence Char was living with his elderly mother, Joyce Char, in Fountain Valley when on June 20, 2009 he got into an argument because she wanted her son do some work around the home. Char then proceeded to grab a shovel and beat his mother repeatedly in the head. According to the OC Register, Joyce Char was taken to the local hospital for blunt force trauma and remained unresponsive until her death a year and a half later due to her injuries.
