New Elder Abuse Hotline
Due to a grant from the U.S. Department of Justice, California seniors who are victims of abuse can now receive free legal advice through a new toll-free statewide hotline.
According to the SF Appeal, those over the age of 60 can contact the California Senior Legal Hotline which is a non- emergency line designated to providing seniors with legal advice. The hotline is being operated by a Sacramento-based nonprofit Legal Services of Northern California. The hotline program is especially designed for those who are victims of domestic or elder abuse and if callers choose, they may be connected with local programs where they can obtain more support.
