According to Turn To 23.com, Juette has been accused of stealing drugs from inmates and swapping the drugs with another woman's medicine. Juette was a live-in caretaker of a 76-year-old woman and would bring home the medicine from the prison and switch it with the ones the elderly woman normally took.

Mother and Son Charged with Elder Abuse

As our parents and grandparents age, they rely more and more on their family members for care and support. If family or friends are not available to provide the support that the elder person needs, he or she must seek outside assistance from either nursing homes or in home caregivers. Unfortunately, we are beginning to see more cases of elder abuse occurring during a stay at these nursing home or by in home caregivers.

Once a friend or loved one entrusts their care to a caregiver, it is imperative that they have a support system that they can lean on in case they become the victims of elder abuse as most elder individuals are afraid to speak up about the alleged abuse.

A Chicago mother and son, Diane Kelley, 63, and Anthony Kelly, 40, are both accused of causing elder abuse to a 74 year old man that they were the caregivers for. According to the News Sun, the Kelley's became angry with the elderly man when they were changing his diaper and are accused of duct-taping the man to the bed as well as using pepper spray. The elderly man was taken to the local hospital where he was in critical condition but has since been released and taken to a nursing and rehabilitation center.

Once convicted, the Kelley's, who are charged with aggravated battery and unlawful restraint, could face up to 5 years in prison for the battery charge and up to 3 years for the restraint charge. Both are being held on a $50,000 bail in Lake County Jail.
