Company Stripped of License for Nursing Home Elder Abuse

As our family members get older and their health deteriorates, we may be faced with the tough decision whether to hire an in-home caregiver or entrust a California nursing home facility to provide the necessary medical care and attention. Unfortunately, many nursing homes are understaffed or may hire team members who may not be as medically trained as they should. Because of this, nursing home residents often end up suffering and become victims of elder abuse.

According to an article on the Santa Barbara Independent, a local Santa Barbara company, Caring Team Inc., which owns several nursing homes, has officially been stripped of its operating license after multiple allegations of elder abuse and elder neglect.

The nursing home, Central Coast Nursing Center, which has around 154 in-house residents, has received 43 citations in the last three months for being noncompliant in providing proper patient care; most nursing homes that may be cited, only receive approximately 20 per year. The nursing home will not be closed down; instead, it has been placed under state control allowing the residents to stay where they are without having to relocate.

Elder abuse is a serious matter as it can be extremely hazardous for the resident and can even lead to death. If you suspect elder abuse, contact a leading California Nursing Home Abuse Attorney as soon as possible.
