Man Gets 35 Years in Prison for Elder Abuse

An ongoing elder abuse case in Monterey County, California has finally come to a close after a Salinas man has been sentenced to 35-years in prison for 24 counts of elder abuse, residential burglary, grand theft and contracting without a license.

According to Kion Right Now, 49-year-old Ralph Carrillo solicited home improvement projects during the years of 2006 and 2008 from multiple home owners, many of which were elderly. Carillo entered into multiple contracts and charged large sums of money before disappearing with the money and without providing the services.

Out of the 9 victims who lost between $1,260 to $65,000 seven were elderly individuals. Carrillo is currently serving a 25-year sentence for scamming the elderly in Texas. The California 35 year sentencing will begin once Carillo finishes his 25 years in Texas.
