Petaluma Nursing Home Accused of Elder Abuse

A Petaluma nursing home facility is being sued by the family of a former resident after alleged accusations of nursing home elder abuse.

According to an article on the Petaluma Patch, a 90 year old woman was admitted to Petaluma Health and Rehabilitation. After a short period of time, the facility caregivers failed to perform basic wound monitoring, nutrition and hydration. After the elderly woman's ulcer condition worsened and her wounds became huge and infected, she was admitted to the local hospital. The hospital then filed a claim with the Sonoma County ombudsman's office for elder abuse and neglect.

Nursing home elder abuse can not only affect a resident's behavior and state of well being, but it can also be deadly. If you witness or suspect elder abuse, you must act quickly and report the abuse as soon as possible.
